What Kind Of Contractor Do I Need?
When it rains with the wind blowing hard from the East or West, I get a leak in my basement. This does not happen when it rains with no wind! The leak seems to originate higher in the house (1st or second floor) and then runs down the ductwork into the basement. Previous caulking around the windows has not resolved the problem. What kind of contractor do I need to find to fix this type of leak? Basement Waterproofing does not seem to meet my needs. If you can refer me to someone specific in the Cincinnati/West Chester area, then Im more likely to pick you as best answer, although any help is appreciated.

Being a general contractor myself I would highly recommend that you contact a “reputable” contractor in your area. I’m in Wisconsin but our weather is similar. However, I’ll give you a couple of things to look for. You say that the leak only appears with wind…..wind-driven rain will sometimes be blown into your soffit and will trickle down the wall. Or it could be originating from a “roof vent” or even from a vent pipe. Also, you did’nt mention whether you have a “drainage problem……sometimes during a heavy wind-driven downpour water will seep in at ground-level through your foundation. This problem could be originating from just about anywhere. So I would say to stick with my origial suggestions if you can’t find it from my other tips. Good luck.
Start with a roofing contractor.
I would go with a General contractor, they will have a variety of specialties at their disposal.
A waterproofing contractor would be the best person to speak to. They should have the knowledge and experience to solve your problem:-
